[This post is to challenge Toped’s. I can’t stand the Arsenal show off. Well, ManUtd fans have not too much to shout about this season… There are some, but maybe next season we have more. Hope so.]

Of all the history and tradition of ManUtd, there is one that is just simply unique to the club, which separates them from the rest of the Premiership clubs, is the No 7 shirt.

ManUtd fans have been very skeptical and picky on to who hold their No 7 shirt. The power of 7 had played a significant part in Manchester United history. This is the number that has been worn by the all time greats of Old Trafford, member of an exclusive club of players who have donned the magical No 7 shirt and taken United to the top. So today we will just take a look at some of the greats of Theatre of Dreams that have worn the No 7.

George Best. The original and the best. The first footballer to receive pop star image. Even Pele said Best was the most talented player he has ever seen. During his short career time , it was acknowledged by everybody that he was the greatest player who has ever walked on earth. He was part of trio that was the heart of 1960s ManUtd, Denis Law, George Best, and Bobby Charlton. But he’s the one who wear the No 7 shirt.

Bryan Robson. Earned the nickname “Captain Marvel” by the fans. He was the leading midfield player in British football during the 1980s. It means that he’s the best midfield player at his time of his career. It was often said Manchester United were a “one man team”, being totally reliant on Robson for success. Kinda like Steven Gerrard nowadays. But Gerrard is not the leading midfield player today, mind you. He’s now the West Brom manager. Robson was Manchester United of 1980s.

Eric Cantona. He is the one who single handedly created the ManUtd that we know today. He’s the main reason of 1990s United’s success period. He’s also the one who gave the image of ManUtd as the invincibles, the greats. ManUtd were the team of 90s. Nicknamed Eric The King by the fans. Was voted the best Premiership player of the decade last year(2005).

David Beckham. He was instrumental to the 1999 team, which is the best team ever for ManUtd. Claimed three major titles otherwise known as The Treble (Premiership, FA Cup, Champions League).

Cristiano Ronaldo. The current No 7 holder. Have the same name of the Brazillian Ronaldo. He was given the honour to join the unique groups of Old Trafford. Ronaldo is still not the finished article, he is getting there however and when he does Manchester United will have one of the world’s truly great players.
