A Refreshing Journey…

Wednesday 29th of November 2006

A few days ago, my family and I (minus my father), plus my cousin and her 4 kids(her sons) (also minus husband), went to the Zoo Negara. Yes, to the Zoo Negara of all places. Since we had 4 kids, which I should call them my anak buah, (I forgot what in english), so we went to the zoo. Now, in my mind, I was constantly thinking, “Lame lame lame, the zoo is for kids only.” But, okay, I didn’t say anything, I just said never mind, I’ll just follow those kids’ desire. (I decided to be open minded)

Anyway, here is the picture at the entrance. The four kids are Omar Haris, Omar Kalif, Omar Yazid and Omar Sabil. Yups, four guys, all heroes. (Nama pun mcm puak2 reformasi) The rest is my cousin, my sister and my mother. Oh and my youngest brother behind there as well. As for me, I was taking the picture of course.

So then, we went straight in. I was still thinking, “It is going to be a boring day.” Those kids decided to take the ‘choo choo’ train that is available for ride and circling the park. I thought, oh no… Utter lameness I suppose. All right, now I’m embarrassed. I was still muttering lame lame and lame (despite my open mindedness) while riding, and suddenly from afar I could see the first animal. A giraffe.

To my surprise, I was struck in amazement. As we drew closer, the giraffe, which is supposed to be a normal (and boring) animal for me seems like an alien. I’ve totally forgotten how tall a giraffe is… I was looking and wow. It simply amazes me… Never had this feeling for a long time. I looked at the kids. They were very excited since this is the first time they see such an animal. But for me, it is quite different. This is not my first time seeing a giraffe in close range, but yet it still feels like it. Seeing this giraffe made me realize how much I have missed the outside world.

We continued, and the next animal are the elephants. Oh my, it’s huge! Never in my mind that I would be amazed by just seeing an elephant. Again, I’ve totally forgotten how big an elephant is… Now, I quietly think and realizes that I am looking at the animals through a child’s point of view. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful.

That’s about five minutes into the zoo. So the rest of the day I spent admiring and looking at those wonderful creatures. We saw tapir, tiger (those tigers are very scary, believe me), kangaroo and many others. Oh and yeah about the bull. The bull is huge. Definitely strong. Smelly too. When we arrived there, they were fighting inside their cage! It was a brutal fight. I wouldn’t even lasted 1 second if I was in there.

So that’s it. A little bit about my journey in the zoo. It has been some what educational. Sorry I was mumbling a lot in this post! Haha.
